SEO Plan: Javascript, CSS effects Page Load Speed

SEO Plan: Javascript, CSS

Page load speed, as we’ve been discussing, is vitally important in your SEO plan. A slow page is a non-converting page and a non-converting page isn’t making you money.

Most web developers are simply trying to build you a beautiful site. They aren’t taking into consideration the Search Engines or Local SEO  limitations that a bulky, slow site can cause.

Part of your SEO Plan Should Include:

Two of the areas key of web development that are often overlooked, and can become a major drain on your Page Load Speed, are Javascript and CSS Files.

Both of these tools add tremendous value to a website. The problem becomes when they aren’t handled correctly.

CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets often times include unused styles. This can cause bloat in data, which of course slows your site down. There can also be multiple CSS files that could be compressed into one file. This will ease the amount of file calls the server has to perform, therefore dramatically increasing Page Load Speed.

Javascript, which is commonly used to create interactive effects within web browsers, creates a separate problem. Before any images on your sites load, the browser loads all javascript first. If you have multiple javascript files, that will mean they will load script 1 then 2 then 3 and so on before it ever gets to the images on your site. To resolve this, you can do like the recommendation in the CSS and compress all or most javascript into one file.
